We are back in Melbourne for Christmas! One of the first items on our Aussie to-do list was to visit the Queen Victoria Market. We couldn’t walk past this amazing cauliflower.
We love veggies and fruits, so wandering through the Queen Victoria Market takes us a couple of hours – there is so much amazingly fresh produce available and so many vendors. You can shop around for the best taste or price. Everything is fresh. One of the things we love about living in another country is discovering the different holiday traditions. We always really enjoy Singapore’s National Day Holiday – and this year we created some extra special recipes to celebrate!

We thought we would begin our posts for 2013 with our first trip to the grocery store upon returning to Singapore. We found a very impressive vegetable – one that we had never seen on the shelf before – albeit an unlabeled one. We didn’t know what it was called but we bought it anyway. Can you guess what it is?
You really should! This is Jicama, one of our absolute favourite vegetables – we always have one in the fridge… and most people don’t know even what it is! It is refreshing, crunchy, slightly sweet, and easy to prepare… you have to try it!
